St. John’s was established as a union church in 1859 and became a separate parish in 1905. The present sanctuary was erected in 1908-09. In 1960, the fellowship hall and educational spaces were added. St John’s, currently served by Pastor David B. Schaeffer, has had 11 pastors.
St. John’s is a member of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America within the Northeastern Pennsylvania Synod, composed of 300 congregations in the eastern areas above Philadelphia.
